6 months agoHom Duan, located down Ekkamai Soi 2, is a true culinary gem that transports diners straight to Northern Thailand. This isn't a trendy fusion spot, but a beloved eatery celebrated for serving authentic, home-style Lanna dishes at reasonable prices, making it a favorite among both locals and Bangkok expats. The Vibe: Casual, Clean, and Classic The atmosphere at Hom Duan is refreshingly casual. It operates in a khao gaeng (curry-on-rice) style during the busy lunch hours, where various pre-cooked Northern curries and stir-fries are displayed and served quickly over rice. The setting is clean and comfortable, often packed with office workers and food enthusiasts during peak times. They use a unique system of colored tokens or buttons to track orders, which adds a charmingly rustic, yet efficient, element to the dining experience. Menu Highlights (Must-Try Dishes) The menu focuses on Northern Thai staples, delivering bold, aromatic flavors that are often hard to find outside of Chiang Mai. •Khao soi •Gaeng Hang Lay •Nam Pik Noon Perfect for: Quick lunches, casual dinners, and anyone looking for a reliable, non-touristy taste of Chiang Mai.

5 months agoWe had dinner at Hom Duan Chiang Mai Restaurant in Bangkok and tried several dishes, and honestly, everything was excellent. The food is authentic Northern Thai cuisine, rich in flavor but perfectly balanced. Each dish was clearly prepared with care, using fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. From the first bite to the last, the quality was consistently high, no weak links on the table. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, relaxed but never casual, the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and can actually enjoy the meal without distractions. If you are looking for real Chiang Mai style food in Bangkok, this place delivers. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, just very good food done properly. Highly recommended, and definitely a restaurant we would happily return to.

4 months agoWe accidentally found Northern thai restaurant when we were so much starving. I had Kanomjeen Nam Ngiaw for the first time in my life which is the classic pork and tomato sauce/stew with blood cubes over rice noodles and also contained some tender pork meatballs. It was an excellent. I almost haven't known Northern thai cuisine not being as highly imagined in Bangkok, even haven't known Khao Soi as well. I really enjoyed this bowl and love it so I tried second helping. Highly recommend this place :)

4 months agoAlways a reliable spot to go to for affordable and tasty thai food. Lots of options and service is very quick. They have northern dishes and the best in the khao soi! Lots of options and some menus vary day to day. Recommend eating in store for most fresh and hot food. Easy parking as well!

a year agoIn my humble opinion, Hom Duan offers by far the best sampling of Northern Thai dishes in Bangkok. It is a comfortable, unpretentious restaurant that is a bit hidden away off Soi 63, behind the Ekkamai Beer House. There is a wide selection of prepared dishes behind a glass counter /shield after you enter the restaurant along with a large photo menu of all the dishes. Just point directly at the dish or at the menu to a server behind the counter to place your order and then find a seat at one of the numerous tables. Your order will be assembled and promptly brought to where you are sitting. Different colored plastic chips are used to keep track of what you ordered. They are delivered to with your meal. And they are used to calculate your total bill at the cashier. The foods are fresh and very flavorful. They are so reasonably priced that your table can order and share several different dishes without putting much of a dent in your wallet. Water and ice are provided for free but there is also a good selection of beers and other beverages available. I have visited Hom Duan on several occasions and although it does good business during the lunch and dinner time hours, I have never had a problem finding a comfortable place to sit
