Honestly, Maji Maji is just mediocre. The food is okay, but definitely nothing special or amazing. It really feels like those high ratings are fake or bought because the experience just doesn't live up to the hype. Don't let the stars fool you—it's just an average meal at best.

Maji Maji at Gateway Ekamai feels like a group chat that grew a dining room. Regulars name favourite rolls and rice bowls like friends. Inside, the room runs on small gestures: an open blue kitchen, lanterns and sakura prints building a pocket of Japan in the mall. The kitchen is at its best in rice-bowl form. Spicy salmon don is the centre of gravity: diced salmon in chilli mayo over firm rice, edged with avocado, tamagoyaki, pickled greens and tempura nori so each bite balances heat, cream and crunch. Unagi arrives as a long lacquered sweep over rice and egg, good value carried by glossy tare. Fried plates sit in the snack lane: fine to pick at, but not what this place is for. Finish with bright yuzu sorbet.

Excellent maki and hand rolls. Very fresh with excellent balance. The portion could be bigger but the taste makes up for it. They also used the real wasabi that is a root the is grounded. Food was on point 5 out of 5 and would definitely be back.

The food is so delicious, and the price is also very reasonable for a store that is located smack in the middle of city. Definitely will come back to eat here again. For anyone who’s taking car to the restaurant, there’s a lot of parking since the restaurant locate in Gateway Ekamai.

Excellent, reasonable priced Japanese-Thai fusion Maki Maki sushi bar & bistro. Very friendly, knowledgeable and polite staff with good English speaking! We loved the sushi, the miso soup, salads and sizzling beef. Gateway Shopping Mall at Ekkamai BTS.
