I had been a long hot day of sightseeing. The Palace, temples, tuk tuks, shopping, the whole nine yards, so a decent meal was definitely on the cards. This place (outwardly) looked simple but the food was anything but. In fact it was probably the best meal we'd had in Bangkok thus far. Yes we ordered far too much, yes two of the dishes were laden with "scrambled" eggs, yes the ice beer was quite cold, but from the seven dishes, one was OK and the other six quite fantastic. I hope the pictures do the place justice. I'm not an expert on Thai food but I know what I like and I loved everything about Ruay Mitr Ekkamai. Food , decor, service all just top notch. Get yourself down there, you'll not be disappointed.

We came to RUAY MITR Ekkamai for lunch and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was great. The restaurant is beautiful, quiet, well cooled, and very comfortable, making it a really pleasant place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The food was very good overall. Everyone had their own favourite dish, but for me, the standout was the minced pork wok-fried with salted olive. It was really smoky, fragrant and well balanced. We also ordered the Hong Kong style quick-fried beef tenderloin, which was interesting and tasty. The minced pork soup with Japanese ume plum was another highlight. Very unique and comforting, and adding Mama noodles to it made it perfect for a cool, rainy day. The Chinese morning glory was just alright. Some of the stalks were a bit old and tough, but it didn’t take away much from the overall experience. Overall, good food, strong air conditioning, and a really nice atmosphere. A place I’d happily return to.

One of my favorite late-night comfort food spots in Ekkamai. The place has a very classic Thai “khao tom gui” (rice porridge side dishes) vibe — simple, casual, and full of local charm. Perfect for late dinners, after drinks, or when you just want something warm and satisfying. The food here is really good and full of flavor. There are so many dishes to choose from — stir-fried vegetables, seafood, crispy pork, salted fish, soups, and of course their rice porridge, which is soft and comforting. Everything comes out fast and tastes fresh, with that familiar home-style Thai seasoning. What I really like is that the quality is very consistent. Portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the location. Staff are quick and efficient, even when the place is busy late at night. The atmosphere is lively and very local, which makes it fun to sit and eat while watching the crowd go by. Overall, RUAY MITR is a great spot for authentic Thai comfort food, especially if you’re looking for something delicious late at night. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

The vibe of this restaurant really stands out. We were seated on level 2 under the glass rooftop, which made the whole dining experience feel special. The space was spacious and the ambience was just right—comfortable and classy without being too loud. The food was good with a nice variety to choose from. Prices are probably mid-tier, but definitely worth it for the overall experience. Staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel well taken care of. Would love to come back again!

Generally quite good flavours but nothing outstanding. Some dishes felt overly salty and some lacking in flavour. Given Bangkok’s many good food options, I’d say to skip for something else.
