The restaurant has a fairly high rating on global platforms; plus, it was close to our hotel, so we decided to check it out. In front of the restaurant, there's a banner "Michelin 2018-2023". I got curious why the restaurant wasn't included in the Michelin Guide in 2024 and 2025 - Google says it has a different status: Bib Gourmand. This is also a Michelin award, given to restaurants with more affordable menus. I've encountered something similar in Istanbul - street eateries there also had awards, and the food was excellent. So, let's get to the food :) The cuisine here is Thai; in my opinion, it's similar to other Thai restaurants in the area (I wouldn't say other places were worse). The meat is excellent, cooked to the "right" medium; my squid was also good (but can you really ruin it? -)) There's a funny ordering procedure - each dish in the menu is marked with a code (a letter + a number). There's a sheet on the table that you need to fill out by checking the desired codes. The staff aren't super-friendly; it's more like how a European might be treated in a Chinese restaurant: "Well, if you're already here - you might take a seat, I guess…" But I must say, they take orders quickly, and the food is cooked quickly too. As for the price, I'd say it's a bit more expensive than other similar places. However, when we left at around 9 PM, the place was fully booked. Let me repeat - everything was very tasty; maybe that is why people come here instead of other restaurants - say, on nearby Silom Road (there are lots and lots of different ones there). So, an "A" for the food, an "A-" for the prices, and a "B+" for the service. Alright, let's be generous - I'll give it an overall "5" -))

I visited Baan Somtum in Sathorn, and it was a solid place for Thai food. The prices were reasonable, and the flavors were good overall. Nothing too fancy, but everything was well balanced and enjoyable. If you’re looking for reliable Thai dishes like som tam and other local food, this is a place where you probably won’t go wrong. Overall, a good spot in Sathorn for a casual meal with decent price and taste. Check my profile for more travel tips and useful information.

Top notch Esarn food! Don’t get fooled by rhe tame name and modern atmosphere of Baan Somtam, you do get excellent and authentic Northeastern food here. The stellar dishes include Tan Laungprabang, Larb Ped, Tom Sap, Grilled beef and all kind of spicy salad (Tam dishes). Appropriately Michelin 👍👍👍

Busy restaurant with limited parking. The Isaan food was delicious and the service excellent. Plenty of seating and it was busy when I had a late lunch. Had three dishes and a beer - very filling. A bit on the pricey side but the food was authentic and really good so worth the higher prices. Highly recommended and I will be back.

Delicious food and very prompt - very pleased with the service here and the good meal. We got everything less spicy since you can ask. The menu is ever beautiful and easy to understand what to order. You order by choosing the number on the menu to the list they give you. Makes it easier. The ambiance is kinda noisy and looks like family oriented. It’s not fancy place but it’s near 5 star sky rise hotels. I’m so full! I’d love to come back
