I had the opportunity to enjoy the tasting menu at Blue Elephant Bangkok, and it was a wonderful fine dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant is set inside a beautiful historic house, creating an elegant and relaxing atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated, blending classic Thai charm with sophistication. The service was excellent throughout the meal—friendly, attentive, and professional without being intrusive. The tasting menu featured a variety of traditional Thai dishes prepared with premium local ingredients. Every course was beautifully presented, almost like a piece of art, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into both the flavors and presentation. Overall, the food was delicious, and despite being a tasting menu, it was surprisingly filling by the end. My favorite dishes were the signature Massaman lamb and the crispy crab starter. The flavors were rich and well-balanced. The only downside for me was that several dishes contained ginger, which I’m personally not a big fan of, so those courses weren’t quite to my taste. That said, the quality of the ingredients and cooking was undeniable. Overall, Blue Elephant offers much more than just a meal—it’s a refined dining experience in a beautiful heritage setting. If you’re looking to explore authentic Thai cuisine presented in an elegant way, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Our family of 5 (adults) took the half day cooking class. From arrival we were made to feel like guests in a family kitchen. The chef and staff were amazing at helping us feel like we were skilled in preparing our own meal. We weren’t certain what we were in for when we arranged this class but I can whole heartedly say this has been my favorite activity in Bangkok. The menu seemed daunting to us as we had not cooked Thai before. However, the chef walked us through preparing the meal step by step, and also offered suggestions of alternate ways to prepare in our home country if ingredients couldn’t be found. We then tasted her version to taste what we would then go cook. Once the chef showed us how to prepare the dish we then entered the kitchen where we then made the dish ourselves. There was plenty of help in the kitchen to make sure we remembered what to do and offer even more suggestions. It was lovely to feel confident as we prepared the dish. Each of us was offered the opportunity at the end of the class to either eat at the restaurant or to take the dishes home with us. We chose to take the meal with us as we had many bites while we were in the class. We prepared five dishes in class. The ingredients were beyond fresh. The aromas, indescribably delicious. The chef and kitchen staff were truly amazing, so helpful and fun. We enjoyed this class far more than any of us expected to and we will prepare these dishes at home. I highly recommend this activity while you are in Bangkok!

Three of us had dinner at the Blue Elephant in January on our way back from the Middle East en route home to Sydney. There are two locations that I’m aware of in Bangkok, as we were staying at the IHG, Sathorn proved to be more convenient for us, and the staff at both locations were very helpful over email recommending options for us. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful gracious building which appeared to have been a private home at some stage perhaps. There’s an old world charm in the dining room we were seated in (facing the street but the building is set back from the road, so no noise or disturbance). The staff were welcoming and helpful, you can expect to receive warm appreciative service in Thailand. We chose a curry, a salad, a beautiful duck dish, and we shared some morning glory and dessert. Don’t be too hung up about what we had, because the menu changes from time to time, but be assured that everything you’re going to order is going to be delicious. I don’t have a gripe about by of it, but if I were pressed to suggest an improvement, I would recommend they amp the flavour up a bit to give it a more authentic feel - that could be by offering a lashing of chili on the side of each plate, or whatever works to give the dishes a bit more bite. Just a tad too europeanised for my taste. I want to add that the staff and the management went out of their way to ensure we got transport back to our hotel as it was a Friday night and we couldn’t get an uber for a good 30 minutes. They arranged a taxi and waited with us, and made sure we were on our way before returning to their posts. You wouldn’t imagine this happening in any other country. It’s a lovely place to dine and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed.

Had a very lovely lunch with good friends. Food was authentic, presentation was very unique and tasteful and cutlery was beautiful. Service was top notch too. Ladies received a stalk of orchid each before leaving the place with wonderful memories. Highly recommend.

The Blue Elephant Sathorn delivers an exceptional dining experience that beautifully honors the depth, elegance, and soul of Thai cuisine—and the Chef’s Tasting Menu is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment the first course arrived, it was clear that this was not just a meal, but a thoughtfully curated journey through Thailand’s regional flavors and culinary heritage. Each dish was exquisitely presented, striking a perfect balance between refinement and authenticity. The flavors were bold yet nuanced—layered with aromatic herbs, perfectly calibrated spice, and impeccable technique. The progression of the tasting menu felt seamless. Highlights included deeply aromatic curries, delicate seafood preparations, and inventive reinterpretations of classic Thai dishes that respected tradition while elevating it to fine-dining artistry. Every bite told a story, showcasing premium ingredients and an obvious reverence for Thai culinary roots. All of this paired with the finest selection of wines by the in-house sommelier. The service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, enhancing the experience without ever feeling intrusive. Staff took the time to explain each course, adding context that made the tasting menu even more meaningful. Paired with the restaurant’s stunning colonial-style setting, the atmosphere felt both grand and intimate—an ideal backdrop for such a memorable meal. Blue Elephant’s Chef’s Tasting Menu is a masterclass in Thai fine dining. It’s an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to explore Thai cuisine at its highest level—refined, soulful, and truly unforgettable.
