Tried the Khao Soi at Hom Duan in Ekkamai. The pork was very tender, and the restaurant was comfortable with a nice local atmosphere. The curry was lighter and milder than what I’m used to in Malaysia, so the flavour wasn’t quite my preference, but that’s more of a personal taste issue. There was also a small mix-up with one of my side orders. Still, it’s a good spot if you want to try authentic Northern Thai food away from the tourist crowds.

9/6/26 - 2.5 stars We found this spot after browsing around on Google. It's a pretty solid small eatery which is cafeteria style. The flavours are decent and the heat from the spices is no joke. Food does just sit there so we had some concerns about hygiene. Thankfully no issues. The main problem we encountered though was the unwillingness to turn on the AC. I do understand we were pretty much the only customers, but, it was not a pleasant interaction. Additionally, the menu is misleading. The curries which say "Served dish/over rice" do not actually come with rice and you will be charged separately. Thai chicken curry Flavour: S, 8/10. Texture: S, 8/10. Not super creamy but meat was tender Value: S+, 8.5/10. 100 baht Northern thai sausages Flavour: A, 7/10. Pretty mild honestly. Not impressed Texture: A, 7/10. Dry. Ratio of herbs to meat was off making it feel like you were eating some grass Value: B, 6/10. 100 baht

We had dinner at Hom Duan Chiang Mai Restaurant in Bangkok and tried several dishes, and honestly, everything was excellent. The food is authentic Northern Thai cuisine, rich in flavor but perfectly balanced. Each dish was clearly prepared with care, using fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. From the first bite to the last, the quality was consistently high, no weak links on the table. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, relaxed but never casual, the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and can actually enjoy the meal without distractions. If you are looking for real Chiang Mai style food in Bangkok, this place delivers. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, just very good food done properly. Highly recommended, and definitely a restaurant we would happily return to.

Great atmosphere and great food. I tasted one of the best Northern food in Bangkok beside the regular ones in most of the part of the city. I highly recommend it to step in for the aroma and flavors that will leave your test buds go tingling. Must go!

Famous for the Khao Soi noodles. Good flavourful. Place is rustic but not congested. Also offers varieties of Thai home cooked dishes. Prices reasonable.
