3 months agoIG: @melvineateat One of my go-to spots for shark’s fin in Bangkok—no need to trek to Chinatown. Comfortable air-conditioned space, decent size, and consistently good quality. 8/10 $$ (2000–3000 THB) Large Braised Shark’s Fin with Crab Meat (2000 THB) – 8/10 Great value vs SG. Generous strands of fin in a rich, savoury brown broth. Customise with parsley, bean sprouts, vinegar, and pepper to lift the flavours. Crab Meat Fried Rice – 7/10 Well-executed with egg and decent crab meat. Pairs nicely with fish sauce, though lacking that wok hei punch.

2 months agoI went there based on fantastic reviews on Google. The actual fact is as follow: 1) The food is over-rated by reviewers. 2) Atmosphere is nostalgic & clean. 3) Servers are attentive 4) Walking distance to Asok BTS(7mins) Pleasant dining experience overall. Last but not least, the food tasted normally nice and not that fantastic as you read in the reviews. Been to alot of places that serve sharkfins in Bkk, you will be surprised there're better option out there. Definitely OVER-RATED.

5 months ago1st time visiting Ping’s and I’ll say its a life changer. From quality of food, service and tastiness, all of them hits the spot. One of the best shark’s fin I’ve had, never-heard-of fried fish maw, all their dishes are lovely and cooked with high standards. You can tell that each dish is filled with many intricate details. Will highly recommend ANYONE to try the restaurant out. Do go for their shark’s fin if possible, they have a long history of serving really good shark’s fin.

3 months agoMy favourite restaurant in Bangkok! I always make it a point to come. Always a highlight for my trip. Love the food - super delicious, authentic Thai Teochew flavours that you can’t find elsewhere. My go-to is the fish maw soup, super comforting . They now even offer frozen packs for you to bring home!!! It’s cooked and frozen upon request. Doesn’t get any fresher than this. The other favourite is the prawn vermicelli. 🥰🥰🥰

2 months agoMade a reservation a month in advance (booked on 22/04 for 22/05 at 7pm), but only received confirmation on the actual reservation day — and even worse, it came at 7:30pm, after my reserved timing had already passed. Because of this, I had to change my plans and reschedule my visit to 23/05 instead. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were left standing awkwardly by the entrance while the staff were still preparing our table, which didn’t leave a great first impression. As for the food, it honestly did not live up to the expectations set by the Google reviews. Don’t expect too much. If you’re simply craving a hearty bowl of shark fin soup and don’t mind the subpar quality at a rather expensive price, then you may still enjoy it. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are many other spots in Bangkok worth trying, even if it means queuing for better food and service elsewhere.
