4 months agoThe Standard Grill, Mahanakhon is an amazing restaurant with delicious food, incredible drinks and cocktails, and truly excellent service. A special thanks to Khun Jua, who took such great care of us throughout the evening. The atmosphere is beautiful chilled, sophisticated, and perfect for a relaxed yet special night out. Every dish came out perfectly, and I was already blown away from the very first appetizer. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection, and the stewed ribs were absolutely excellent. They also have vegetarian options, my friend ordered the vegetarian burger and it was surprisingly amazing. Highly recommended for a family dinner, celebration, or a special night out with friends.

3 months agoI simple love the aesthetics at this restaurant. The interior design is amazing and the layout makes it so easy to navigate. The soft, warm lighting makes diners feel welcome. The furniture and fittings complemented the colour tone here. I feel the outdoor seating could be a bit warm during the summer months though. Anyway, it was a real pleasure to be able to document this and I had fun exploring the place before I checked out of the hotel. I do look forward to dining here when I return to Bangkok sometime soon.

7 months agoWe came here on NYE and they were only offering a course dinner for 5000 baht pp. ok now while the amount of food was substantial, and was visually appetising, the execution of the menu missed a few things. The truffle arancini was nice as was the substituted prawn cocktail instead of oysters. Next was the grilled asparagus on a hollandaise like sauce which was rich but not too bad. Next he pasta was heavy, too salty for my liking anyway and the uni was definitely not as good as we get in Japan, also then the next course came out while we hadn’t even half finished the pasta ( not like I wanted to eat it all anyway). The steak, hmmm, I believe simplicity is best for steak nicely charred medium rare little sauce and garnish, unfortunately I couldn’t really taste the steak, I actually told my partner the cow died for nothing lol. Dessert was an overly sweet bombe Alaska which was lit by a cigarette lighter lol ( please do yourself a favour and purchase something a little more in tune with the restaurants style) but ok. Including one juice one beer, 2 coffees and a bottle of sparkling water it came to 14000 baht. I don’t really mind paying that much money if I came out raving about the menu but in my opinion the portions were actually too big and too rich (too much cream and egg yolks), too salty. So looking through the reviews I see a lot of mixed reviews. If you’re going to spend that kind of money hopefully you won’t be as disappointed we feel. We would’ve been better eating somewhere different. Live and learn.

7 months agohad brunch at The Standard Grill and everything was outstanding from start to finish. The service was excellent, the food quality was superb, and the value for money was very impressive. The atmosphere had a great vibe, and the wine list was well curated and perfectly matched the experience. The food selection was amazing — a fantastic seafood platter, followed by excellent beef, chicken, and pork, all cooked perfectly with very pleasant and well-balanced sauces. The mac and cheese was a real highlight: very creamy and full of flavor. The dessert selection was wonderful and a perfect way to end the brunch. Overall, an exceptional brunch experience. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back.

a month agoI was surprised how much I enjoyed my time and meal at The Standard Grill. The food turned out to be more pleasing than expected, as nowadays most western restaurants in Bangkok seem to taste more or less the same without much differentiation. Yet I was surprised with what I enjoyed at this venue. All dishes seemed to surprise me in their own positive ways. Wine was good, a bit pricey but of good selection. The only thing I might remark would be the service. The staff were great, seemed young yet performing to a satisfactory level. The bartender was great. But it seems there were very few active staff on the floor and so they were stretched to look after such a huge floor. If you are patient, not in a rush and keep enjoying the food and the place, this seemingly insufficient staff issue could be overlooked. Overall, a great evening with an unexpected pleasant surprise.
