a month agoZao is an absolute masterpiece for anyone looking to experience authentic, elevated Isan (Northeastern Thai) cuisine in Bangkok. What makes this place so special is their dedication to sourcing high-quality, local ingredients straight from the Isan region. The flavors are incredibly bold, rich, and deeply traditional. A must-try is their Som Tum with Dong Daeng noodles—the homemade rice noodles are wonderfully chewy, and the house-made fermented fish sauce (Pla Ra) is perfectly savory and fragrant without being overpowering. Their larb, grilled meats, and local soups are also exceptionally well-crafted. The restaurant features a very stylish, modern yet cozy design that makes for a wonderful dining atmosphere. The staff are incredibly polite, welcoming, and happy to explain the unique regional dishes and ingredients. If you want to experience Isan food that is premium, authentic, and full of soul, I highly recommend visiting Zao!

3 months agoCan never get enough of this place. Truly authentic Isaan food made with incredibly fresh ingredients. They also occasionally offer seasonal ingredients and special dishes, which makes every visit a little different and exciting. Highly recommend booking via Hungry Hub for a better deal and great value. One of my go-to spots for consistently delicious Thai food.

a year ago10/10 One of my favourite restaurants in Bangkok. I come here quite often and tend to bring people over for hang out, birthday dinner, or even a casual business dinner. It’s also my go to spot for bringing foreigner friends who love some spicy Thai food. Their food was immaculate. I dont wish they change anything, it’s absolutely wonderful. The Thai flavours are super intense and not for a newbie. All the grilled and fried fish are a little too oily for my liking but other choices are always available. Great selections of dessert and wine. The staffs are well spoken and can recommend great wines as well. They are always friendly and very welcoming. Love their music choices here as well. Every time I come there would be at least one person or one occasion or someone shazaming the music. The corner by the big mirror gets a little crowded and sometimes and the noise level is high there because it echos as well as the round table area. But other seats were easy for casual conversations. Super easy to park as well! Love it here and will always come back! ♡
